Today marks the 8th year of working for my company, a bank that operates with integrity and I am proud to do my small part to make it run better. There is one question I can’t stop asking myself—how did I last this long in finance? I was excruciatingly shy, had just graduated from college in a foreign country I now call home, and failed miserably at cold-calling and pitching stocks to uninterested buy-side money managers. That’s when I found a new opportunity at my current firm and took on different positions and projects since 2011. I am now in a role where I get to fix problems, come up with new processes to enhance the status quo, and work with amazing people.
There will always be challenges and an endless list of problems to solve, but there is one big difference from when I first started working: I believe in myself.
